Long Learning

The Elementary years (Grades 1–5) are where curiosity matures into inquiry, play deepens into purpose, and children begin building the academic confidence that will carry them forward. The spirit of SNAP continues — but the scaffolding grows with them.
From Cambridge Primary to critical thinking, learning here is active, connected, and real.

THE S.T.A.M.P NETWORK
1. SCIENCE & STORIES
At VLC, science begins with curiosity and stories give it meaning. Children pose questions, investigate, and construct their own understanding through experiment and observation — then weave what they find into narrative, discussion, and the shared inquiry of a thinking community.

Play is not a break from learning—it is learning in its truest form. Through games, role-play, and open-ended exploration, our students take risks, negotiate with peers, solve problems, and rehearse the world. Play is where confidence, imagination, and friendship grow together.

2. TECHNOLOGY
Technology at VLC is a tool for thinking, not a substitute for it. Children use digital tools to design, code, and create—approaching problems from multiple perspectives and developing innovative solutions to the real-world challenges they encounter.

3. ART
Art is where creativity deepens into craft. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, drama, and design, children explore form, colour, and emotion — building a creative voice that travels with them across every subject and stage of learning at VLC.
4. MATH, MUSIC, MOVEMENT & MINDFULNESS
M holds together four practices that shape how children think, feel, and move. Math builds reasoning and pattern; music tunes the ear and the heart; movement keeps bodies strong and minds alert; mindfulness teaches children to pause, notice, and respond with intention. Together they reflect our whole-child philosophy, where academic excellence is inseparable from human growth. In our Elementary Years, each child is:
* A pattern-seeker, reasoning through math with curiosity, not fear.
* A voice in the making, finding rhythm and discipline through music.
* A body in motion, building strength, balance, and joy through movement.
* A grounded mind, growing in self-awareness through mindfulness.

Inquiry Oriented Learning

Inquiry is at the heart of our pedagogy. Children are encouraged to pose questions, investigate, and construct their own understanding.
In the Elementary Years, inquiry may begin with “What are my roles and responsibilities in my community?” and evolve into
“How do humans adapt and thrive in their environments?”
These big questions serve as anchors, guiding discovery across subjects and contexts.

Inter disciplinary Learning

We believe expansive thinking comes from dissolving the boundaries between disciplines.
Through interdisciplinary projects — ranging from design challenges to explorations of urban spaces — students learn to connect ideas across fields, approach problems from multiple perspectives, and develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
